Looking for bonding experiences with your child or grandchild over the summer holidays? Build their self-esteem, confidence and dexterity, while weaving a flower, heart, Catalan tray, hanging basket, dragonfly or birdfeeder (with which you can find out what birds use your garden!) and learning about tools and responsibility. It’s exciting and fun!

Weaving with natural materials while at ease in the countryside develops a deep bond and creates lasting memories. Take friends and blow off steam along with other children in adventurous surroundings, with birdsong, sweet donkeys and ponies, affectionate turkeys and noisy chickens around you. Breathe in the scents and take in the sounds of the countryside. Enjoy the sense of freedom and calm that nature provides you both with.

What Can they Expect and Learn?

  • A relaxed time, immersing themselves in being creative with natural materials in a tranquil setting;
  • Step-by-step, easy to follow guidance from start to finish;
  • Developing dexterity and building self-esteem and confidence;
  • Use of tools provided, in a responsible way, and what to use if you don’t have those tools at home;
  • Practising and developing new skills for life;
  • Ancient basketry techniques and exploring ways of adopting these to other projects;
  • Find out about cultivation and preparation of willow and hedgerow materials;
  • Their items are made from 100% sustainable materials, the ethical, eco-friendly way; and
  • All willow, use of tools, teas, coffees and other drinks, fruit and cakes are included.

The excitement of using tools that your (grand)child may not be familiar with and their managing that apprehension within a safe environment has an enormously positive effect on their self-esteem and confidence.

It’s a fantastic time to spend with their friends, but also really refreshing to share with children they’ve not met before.

Courses will go ahead with a minimum of 4 participants, but groups are small with 6 participants as a maximum.

Basket weaving is very therapeutic, as you are using head, heart and hands, bringing body and mind back in sync. Working in a group allows you to share experiences, bounce off ideas, so it’s also a great way to build new friendships. It is very beneficial for both body and mind.

Is this for my child?

Over the years, children with disabilities, or arthritis were still able to weave a basket. Not quite sure about your child’s abilities, then just get in touch and I will assess to see whether it’s for you.

Locations

I try to organise the courses in rural locations; on farms for instance. This way, we have the benefits of nature around us to fully reconnect and rewild.

Please contact me for a more tailored experience.
