Weave a Willow Christmas Tree Collar in the Kent Countryside

Step away from the noise of everyday life and spend a day immersed in slow, mindful making with natural materials.

In this small-group basketry workshop, you will learn how to weave your own beautiful Christmas tree collar using traditional techniques and sustainably sourced willow. Held in peaceful countryside locations in Kent and East Sussex, these workshops are designed to reconnect you with creativity, craftsmanship and the calming rhythm of working with your hands.

No previous experience is needed. Whether you are a complete beginner or have explored basketry before, you will be guided through the process at your own pace.

A Restorative Craft Experience

Working with natural fibres is both grounding and deeply satisfying. As your hands begin to weave, the mind quietens. Many participants describe the experience as calming, meditative and unexpectedly therapeutic.

These workshops are intentionally small and relaxed, allowing time to slow down, learn traditional skills and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something beautiful and lasting.

You will leave not only with a handcrafted Christmas tree collar, but very much also with a renewed sense of calm, creativity and connection.

What You’ll Learn

During the workshop you will:

  • Weave your own artisan Christmas tree collar using mainly willow;
  • Learn traditional basketry techniques used to shape and strengthen woven forms;
  • Receive step-by-step guidance in a supportive, welcoming environment;
  • Explore the creative possibilities of weaving with sustainable natural materials;
  • Gain skills that can be applied to future basketry and weaving projects.

All materials, tools and refreshments are included.

Teas, coffee and seasonal fruit are provided throughout the day, and participants are invited to bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the countryside setting.
